Chris Scott Wines The Briny Wink Chardonnay 2024

Energetic, driven and precise Chardonnay grown on calcified clay in the Tuki Tuki Valley, one of Hawke’s Bay’s cooler subregions. The aromatics here are understated - citrus, oyster shell and a touch of toasted almond - and although there’s a gentle creaminess to the texture through the mid-palate, what we loved the most is the wirey, lengthy line of mineral acidity.

With over 20 years at the helm at Church Road, and many accolades and excellent wines to show for it, Chris Scott has an intricate understanding, and love of Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay. When we heard through the grapevine that he and wife Laura were releasing their own label, we knew these wines would be something special. Coming from Chris’ pick of the region's best Chardonnay vineyards, they certainly do not disappoint.
