Clos Henri Otira Sauvignon Blanc 2023
The team at Clos Henri take Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to the next level, in terms of refinement and expression of place. Their Otira Sauvignon Blanc comes from vines grown on free draining glacial stones. It has aromatics of elderflower and ripe yellow fruits, with a great mineral persistence. Â
Clos Henri was established in the foothills of Marlboroughâs Wairau Valley in 2001, but this wine familyâs story goes back 10 generations in France. Weâll pick up the story in the 1950âs, when Henri Bourgeois shifted his family's agricultural focus solely to winegrowing, and in particular to the terroir of Sancerre. This is where Sauvignon Blanc is very much at home in the Loire Valley. A couple of generations on and the family recognised how special Marlborough terroir is for the variety, and so Clos Henri was born. They gained full Biogro organic certification in 2013, and are guided by their ethos of creating âan oasis of life in Marlboroughâ.Â
