Domaine La Soumade Rasteau 2022
Dense, dark fruited and structured, this wine comes from Rasteau in the Southern Rhone Valley in France. A lesser known village, Domaine Soumade is the leading light here, producing Grenache predominant wines that seriously deliver in flavour and purity. Estate grown fruit was aged in concrete tanks for 1 year, followed by 6 months in oak barrels.Â
Domaine Soumade was established in 1979 by AndrĂ© RomĂ©ro. Initially selling fruit to local cooperatives, AndrĂ© achieved his goal of solely bottling the domaine wines by 1990. His son FrĂ©dĂ©ric RomĂ©ro joined him in 1996, and the estate is now made up of 26 hectares of vines grown on rich limestone-clay soils.Â
