Occhipinti SP68 Rosso 2022
Weâve worked with this wine for years now, and itâs always stood out for itâs juiciness, itâs streak of saline minerality and a hint of liquorice. Cherry, strawberry and violet perfume lead to itâs bright, fresh palate. Based in the south east of Sicily, this is where the variety Frappato originates and reaches its zenith. Its fragrance is given a little more oomph with the addition of 30% Nero dâAvola. SP68 refers to the country road that runs past the vineyard. Itâs significant as an ancient route transporting wine to the towns and ports of the south east.Â
Arianna Occhipinti came to love wine early in life, mentored by her uncle Giusto Occhipinti of famed winery COS, just down the road from Ariannaâs estate. Having started with just one hectare of abandoned vines, her rise to prominence has been meteoric, now organically farming 23 hectares. Her wine styles are that of elegance, perfume and nervy energy.
